Who is the inspection and testing qualification for?
This level will suit you if you work as an operative within the Electrotechnical industry. There are three options learners can take depending on their individual industry requirements, level of experience or prior knowledge.
• 2391-50: Initial Verification. Intended for learners who wish to verify new installations and perhaps never need to carry out Periodic Inspection and Testing.
This is a new qualification which is primarily aimed at qualified electricians, who have a great deal of technical skills and knowledge who may have not carried out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require some update of training before going on to other City & Guilds qualifications. You should be able to work with minimum supervision and have a good record of safety, fault correction and ensuring work meets the required standard. This new course replaces part of the old 2391 Inspection, certification and testing course.).
Who is the qualification for?
It is aimed at practising electricians who have not carried
out inspection and testing since qualifying or who require
some update of training before going onto other City &
Guilds qualifications. The qualification is also suitable for
those with limited experience of initial inspection of
electrical installations, such as those entering the
industry from other engineering disciplines or who have
been working in allied trades
What does the qualification cover?
This qualification prepares candidates for the initial
verification of electrical installation work.
What opportunities for progression are there?
It allows candidates to progress into employment or to
the following City & Guilds qualifications:
• Level 4 Award in the Design and Verification of Electrical
Installations (2396)
• Level 3 Award in Periodic Inspection (2391-51)
• ILM management and leadership qualifications
The qualification is endorsed by the Institution of
Engineering and Technology
You are required to have the latest copy of the yellow IET Wiring regulations 2008 (2015) and the Guidance Note 3, which can both be bought from us on site.
